ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) has demanded a substantial increase in salaries and allowances for government employees ahead of the federal budget for fiscal year 2026–27.
As per the association, a six-point charter of demands has been prepared which requires a 200 percent hike in basic salary and 500 percent raise in house rent allowance, medical and other official allowances.
Furthermore, the association’s leaders have also decided to organize a big protest demonstration in Islamabad against the government on June 2.
Apart from this, the association has asked the concerned authorities not to privatize the public sector institutions, which is also a very important demand of the government employees.
According to the clerks’ association, the present economic situation and high level of inflation have badly impacted the purchasing power of the employees making it difficult for them to cope with the household expenditures.
They mentioned that there is a fast increase in the rate of inflation, which creates a financial burden on the low and middle class government employees, especially clerical employees.
The association has asked the government to include their demands in the budget or otherwise they might take other steps in this regard.
The development comes as various employee groups continue to press for salary revisions and relief measures amid ongoing inflationary pressures in the country.
