PESHAWAR: South Air has announced the start of regular flights to Dera Ismail Khan, which is being described as a major step towards promoting air connectivity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In this regard, a delegation of South Air, led by Chairman Kanwar Muhammad Tariq, met with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi. The meeting discussed in detail the expansion of air connectivity in the province and the launch of new flights.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, while assuring all possible cooperation on the launch of flights to Dera Ismail Khan and Chitral, said that South Air is welcome in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that South Air’s flights will prove successful in the province.
He added that air connectivity is essential for the promotion of tourism and business in the province, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the tourism hub of Pakistan. According to him, many important areas of the province are still deprived of air facilities, which need to be connected to a modern air network.
The governor said that flights from Peshawar to Karachi, Lahore, and Quetta will boost economic activities in the province, while the launch of new airlines will increase employment, tourism, and trade activities.
On the other hand, South Air Chairman Kanwar Muhammad Tariq said that the airline has completed all operational, technical, and administrative preparations and is starting its air operations across the country this month.
He said that South Air’s goal is to connect small and remote areas of the country with the air network. Dera Ismail Khan is a very important station for the company, where daily flights are planned.
According to the South Air Chairman, regular flights will also be started for Chitral, while daily flights are also planned from Peshawar to Karachi, Quetta and Lahore.
According to officials, this move is expected to significantly improve air facilities and increase economic activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
