MARDAN (Akhunda Fazal Haq): Another injured victim of the motorway fatal traffic accident has succumbed to his injuries at the Mardan Medical Complex (MMC), bringing the total death toll of the tragedy to 18, hospital sources said.
According to a spokesperson of the Mardan Medical Complex, the deceased was identified as Tahir, a resident of Lower Dir, who had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
The spokesperson further detailed that the bodies of 12 of the deceased victims have already been handed over to their families for burial.
However, the identity of one deceased individual and one injured patient currently at the facility has yet to be ascertained.
At present, five other individuals who sustained injuries in the accident are still undergoing medical treatment at the hospital.
A van coming from Rawalpindi and heading towards Buner collided with a parked bus on the Swat Motorway near Mardan on Monday morning.
