BANNU (Salman Ali Khan): At least 12 terrorists were killed, a local man martyred, and several other peace committee members injured as an intense exchange of fire between the police peace committee and militants continued in the Barakzai Akhundkhel area of Bannu, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police confirmed on Saturday.
According to police, a fierce clash is ongoing between police and militants in the Barakzai Akhundkhel area of Bannu, where the police have confirmed the killing of 12 militants in retaliation.
Police said that despite the heavy firing, the police personnel showed bravery and safely reached the police station, while more personnel have been called in to control the situation.
According to an MTI spokesperson, one dead body and four injured have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
Police said that a retired FC official was martyred in the firing during the clash, while four police personnel and a minor child were injured. The injured have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Bannu, for medical treatment.
According to local sources, militants are present in large numbers at Barakzai, due to which there is severe tension in the area, and intermittent firing is going on from both sides.
On the other hand, Pakistan Army troops have also reached the area, while search and clearance operations have been intensified.
