Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation within the limits of the Merian police station and defused a 10 kg improvised bomb, while eight terrorists were killed and several others were injured in the exchange of fire.
According to the Central Police Office, the operation against the terrorists was launched early in the morning, in which joint teams of the police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) participated. Modern drones and modern technology were also used to monitor the movements of the terrorists during the operation.
According to the CPO, one policeman was martyred in the intense exchange of fire, while another was injured and was immediately shifted to the hospital.
IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed has said that operations against Fitna-ul-Kharij and other peace-threatening elements will continue uninterrupted. He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police is on the front line to protect the lives and property of the people, and every attack by the enemy will be responded to with full force.
