QUETTA: Security forces have achieved another major success in operations against militants by eliminating a high-value commander of the proscribed Fitna al-Khawarij, identified as Baseer, following an intense and meticulous months-long intelligence operation.
According to security sources, Baseer was the designated mastermind and in-charge of the high-profile attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) North Balochistan Headquarters in Quetta on September 30, 2025. While 15 other terrorists involved in that assault had already been neutralised across various preceding operations, Baseer had managed to remain at large until now.
The momentum shifted significantly during the night of May 14–15, when security forces conducted a sweeping operation in the Shaban area, liquidating 33 terrorists. Intelligence later confirmed that Baseer was the commander running that specific Shaban training camp.
Following that raid, the manhunt for the commander intensified, culminating today, May 20, when security forces tracked him down. Baseer was killed during the encounter, while one of his close accomplices was arrested alive by the forces.
Official records reveal that Baseer was the son of Noorullah, a notorious terrorist resident of Gulistan, Chaman. Throughout his militant career, Baseer was heavily involved in orchestrating a suicide attack on a wing headquarters in Chaman, an assault on an FC post in Loralai, and multiple coordinated quadcopter attacks targeting security personnel.
