PESHAWAR (Umar, Kashif Aziz): Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Captain (retd) Sanaullah Khan has suspended three officials of the livestock department over negligence in arrangements at the cattle market in Peshawar.

According to sources, the deputy commissioner, Peshawar, Sanaullah Khan paid a surprise visit to the provincial capital’s livestock market on Wednesday, where he found poor arrangements, unsatisfactory cleanliness, and security.

The DC took action against three officials of the livestock department and ordered an inquiry into the matter, while directing authorities concerned to ensure facilities at the livestock markets.

The provincial capital’s admin, on the occasion, briefly reviewed arrangements for drinking water, cleanliness, and security. He directed the veterinarians to conduct regular, proper check-ups of sacrificial animals.

Deputy Commissioner urged the authorities to ensure all available facilities for the citizens at the livestock market, and continue legal action against illegal animal markets simultaneously.

He also instructed the traffic police to maintain the traffic flow in the city ahead of Eid al-Azha so that shoppers can conveniently visit markets for their shopping.

The DC appealed to the public to buy animals from registered and legal livestock markets set up in the city. Assistant Commissioner, Saddar, Ms Hasina Khan and other officers were present during the DC Peshawar visit.
