PESHAWAR (Muhammad Ijaz Afridi): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Management Service (PMS) has announced it will join the pen-down strike called by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, on May 6, to protest the delay in the National Finance Commission (NFC) award.
The PMS Association issued a statement here on Tuesday. Association’s chairman, Noman Wazir, said that the PMS Officers Association expresses complete solidarity with the provincial government and supports the demand of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi.
The statement expressed concern over the delay in the National Finance Commission NFC award and the unfair distribution of electricity and gas resources.
The press release said that this issue was not only administrative in nature but was linked to constitutional principles and fiscal federalism. Empowering the provinces was essential for a strong federation, while the reduction in provincial fiscal authority was affecting governance and service delivery.
The PMS Officers Association has appealed to all PMS officers to fully implement the strike and refrain from any official correspondence and routine administrative matters during this period.
According to the statement, the strike aims to protect provincial rights, balance the financial system and ensure fair provision of resources for the province.
