PESHAWAR: A three-member prosecution team has been formed to monitor and investigate the high-profile murder case of Charsadda’s renowned religious scholar Maulana Muhammad Idrees Shaheed. The prosecution team will remain in contact with police investigation teams and a daily progress report will also be prepared in this regard.
According to a notification issued by the District Public Prosecutor Charsadda, the prosecutors included in the investigation team for the case of religious scholar Muhammad Idris Shaheed are Senior Public Prosecutor Muhammad Irshad, Law Officer Sikandar Zaman, and Assistant Public Prosecutor Shahid Adil.
As per the notification, the prosecution team will monitor the investigation of the case under FIR No. 36 registered at CTD Police Station Mardan. The notification has directed the members to maintain full coordination with police investigation teams and submit daily progress reports on the case to the office.
According to the prosecution, the purpose of forming this team is to ensure a transparent and effective legal follow-up of the Maulana Muhammad Idrees Shaheed murder case.
CTD Mardan lodges FIR in martyred Maulana Idress case
Earlier, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Mardan has lodged a first information report (FIR) under various sections against unknown assailants in the murder of Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Idress, who was targeted near his house in Utmanzai Charsadda this morning.
According to the police, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the CTD Mardan police station regarding the murder of Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Idrees. Sheikh Muhammad Idrees was killed, and two policemen were injured when unknown assailants on motorcycles opened fire.
The injured policemen were assigned to provide security for Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Idrees. The FIR was lodged based on the complaint of Police Constable Sher Alam, who was among those injured in the attack.
Police sources reported that the FIR names unidentified suspects and includes several charges, such as Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, which encompasses both terrorism and murder.
The FIR states that Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Idrees, along with two policemen and a driver, was present in the vehicle when they came under attack. The assailants fired upon their vehicle from behind.
