CHILAS: Jamsheed Ahmed, a 21-year-old young man from Chilas, belongs to a very poor family. Despite facing financial difficulties at home, he never lost hope and always dreamed of learning a skill so that he could stand on his own feet and support his family.
When he saw the vocational training advertisement from Gilgit‑Baltistan Rural Support Programme, he immediately submitted his application form. Jamsheed had a strong interest in learning the Electrician Trade, and he was selected to receive three months of training at the VTI Centre Chilas.
During the training, he worked very hard and learned the technical skills required in electrical work. After completing the training, Jamsheed started his own private electrical work. Today, through his dedication and skills, he is earning up to around PKR 100,000 per month.
Along with his work, Jamsheed is also continuing his education and is currently studying for a BA degree. His determination to continue both education and work shows his strong commitment to building a better future.
Jamsheed’s success has not only changed his own life but has also created opportunities for others. Currently, three apprentices are working with him and learning electrical skills, which will help them build their own careers in the future.
This success story shows that when young people are given opportunities to learn practical skills, they can transform their lives and contribute positively to their communities.
We are thankful to Gilgit‑Baltistan Rural Support Programme and Water and Power Development Authority for establishing the VTI Centre Chilas, which is providing valuable skills and employment opportunities to local youth.
