Why are Christians in Jerusalem protesting against Israel?
The recent attack on a French nun in occupied East Jerusalem is not a new incident for the Christian community, but is being described as part of a growing cycle of violence.
According to Arab media, Christians living in Israel say that harassment, attacks, and insulting behavior against them has increased significantly in the past few years. According to data published in a report by Arab media, 31 incidents were reported against Christians in the first 3 months of this year, while 113 attacks were recorded last year, most of which targeted religious figures. Incidents such as spitting, abuse, and desecration of places of worship are becoming commonplace daily.
According to Arab media, victims say that many incidents are not reported due to a lack of trust in the police. According to the report, experts say that the growing extremism and nationalist trend in Israel is a major reason for this situation, especially since extremist religious and settler groups are being accused of being involved in these incidents.
