PESHAWAR: Electricity is expected to be cut off for three weeks as part of the beautification project for 32 markets in Peshawar. The development work in these markets is anticipated to be completed in about two months. Plans have been proposed to partially and completely close the markets during this period.
According to sources, there is also a plan to replace the electricity wires and install new cables in the 32 markets. Traffic will be restricted in several commercial centres, including Shaheen Bazaar, Mina Bazaar, Kochi Bazaar, Karim Pura Chowk, Shadi Peer, Peeple Mandi, and Ashraf Road Chowk Yadgar.
The power outages are scheduled to facilitate the development work, which includes road construction and repairs. All development activities will take place from 7 AM to 5 PM. The roads will be reconstructed to enhance the aesthetics of the markets, and additional measures will be implemented alongside the traffic closures.
Electricity will be cut off partially and completely in phases to accommodate the installation of cable wires in the markets. Additionally, funds will be allocated to the Peshawar Electric Supply Company to assist in laying special cables throughout all the markets in Peshawar.
