QUETTA: National karate champion Arzo Haider, who was critically injured in a scooter accident in Quetta earlier this week, has tragically passed away. The news of her death was confirmed by the Secretary of Sports, Balochistan.

It is reported that Haider was a very promising and talented athlete. She had won both gold and silver medals at the National Games before being critically injured on her way to the stadium on a scooter.

Sources revealed that she was going to Ayub Stadium for a karate championship when a mishap occurred, resulting in her injuries, and subsequently, leading to her tragic death after remaining under medical treatment.

Haider’s untimely demise has taken the whole country into shock, and sincere condolences have been extended to her bereaved family from all parts. The authorities of Balochistan expressed great sorrow over the death of such a talented sports figure, adding that they would cherish her contributions.

Her premature death means the loss of an important athlete of Pakistan as well as of Balochistan.

Milestone moment: Usman Khan sets new PSL record

Meanwhile, a new record has been set in the history of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as Usman Khan, a batsman for the Hyderabad Kingsmen, has become the player with the most centuries in the league’s history.

In a thrilling PSL 11 match on Wednesday, Usman Khan played a remarkable innings, scoring 101 runs off just 47 balls while chasing a daunting target of 214 runs against the Multan Sultans. This century marks the fourth of Usman Khan’s PSL career, earning him the distinction of having the most centuries in the league’s history.

So far, Usman Khan has participated in a total of 33 matches in the PSL, showcasing an impressive performance. He scored his first century in the 2023 season, followed by two more in 2024. With his fourth century in PSL 11, he has etched his name in the record books.
