SOUTH WAZIRISTAN (NOOR ALI): PTI MPA Asif Mehsud blamed for favoritism in distribution of agricultural goods in South Waziristan Upper due to the alleged nexus between the Agriculture Department and local Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Asif Mehsud, which is causing severe distrust among the genuine and deserving landowners of the area.
According to complaints issued by local landowners and residents of the area, agricultural facilities and goods provided by the Agriculture Department are being distributed under political influence rather than merit. The affected landowners say that the alleged nexus between the Agriculture Department officials and local MPA Asif Mehsud is the biggest obstacle in this process, due to which the deserving people are being completely ignored.
Local residents have expressed serious concerns that agricultural assistance and equipment are being provided to politically influential individuals, while the poor farmers who truly deserve these facilities are still deprived. Locals complained that despite repeated demands, transparent distribution of agricultural goods is not being ensured.
The affected farmers and social circles have demanded that the authorities take immediate notice of the matter. Citizens say that agricultural facilities should be kept free from any kind of political influence and the distribution process should be completely transparent, impartial and based on merit. They have warned that if transparency is not ensured, the farmers will be forced to take the path of protest for their rights.
