India’s legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92, due to multiple organ failure.
According to reports, the veteran singer was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday after her health deteriorated. She had reportedly been suffering from a chest infection.
Media sources said that the singer passed away due to multiple organ failure.
Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the news and stated that her last rites would be performed on Sunday evening.
Earlier, news of her hospitalization was shared by her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, on social media platform X. In her post, she said that her grandmother had been admitted due to extreme fatigue and a chest infection.
Asha Bhosle was widely regarded as one of the most influential and versatile singers in the history of Indian music, with a career spanning several decades.
Asha Bhosle has sung dozens of hit songs in Bollywood, while the singer has also been awarded the Dada saheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award, in 2008.
