ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Sunday to discuss the rapidly evolving security situation in the region.
The high-level contact follows a series of diplomatic engagements by Pakistan aimed at lowering tensions amidst a significant escalation of hostilities in the Middle East. During the call, both leaders conducted a comprehensive review of the latest regional developments, emphasising the urgent need for de-escalation to ensure long-term peace and stability.
They underscored that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable tools to prevent a wider conflict that could threaten global security and economic interests.
The two Foreign Ministers also discussed multilateral peace efforts, including the recently proposed framework for stabilising the Gulf and ensuring the security of vital maritime shipping lanes. Reaffirming the deep-rooted and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the leaders agreed to maintain close and constant coordination to monitor the situation as it unfolds.
This latest interaction is part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic outreach, which has included recent consultations with counterparts from Iran, Egypt, and Bahrain to promote a collective response to the crisis.
