ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has officially launched the second phase of its Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Programme, enrolling 1,400 young engineering graduates for structured professional development and industrial training.

The initiative, designed to bridge the persistent gap between academic theory and practical execution, is divided into two operational cohorts. The first group of 700 engineers began training on September 1, with the second cohort scheduled to follow from October 1 to 31, 2026.

Operated in collaboration with upwards of 60 industrial organizations nationwide, the comprehensive programme combines five months of hands-on field experience with a dedicated one-month skills development curriculum. Participating engineers receive a monthly stipend of Rs50,000 throughout the duration of the placement.

Classroom and technical instruction is conducted five days a week across eight regional centers: Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, Multan, Karachi, Hyderabad, and Quetta. The curriculum addresses vital professional competencies, ranging from technical communication, emotional intelligence, and executive presence to conflict resolution, strategic time management, and engineering ethics.

As part of the curriculum’s final week, trainees will complete a specialized Certificate Programme in Personality Development administered by the National Defence University (NDU).

PEC Chairman Engr Waseem Nazir emphasized that the initiative functions as an “engineer house-job model,” explicitly formulated to elevate graduate employability and forge durable pipelines between higher education and the industrial sector.

“PEC will continue to strive towards developing an extremely talented group of engineers that can help drive the economic and technological progress of Pakistan.” Nazir stated.
