Water and Sanitation Services Company Abbottabad (WASA) cancels leaves of sanitation staff and has completed preparations to dispose of sacrificial waste within 24 hours on Eid-ul-Azha.
The leaves of WASA staff assigned to sanitation have been canceled and heavy machinery including excavators, multi-loaders, dumpers, dozers, compactors, mini-dumpers and several other vehicles have been prepared for operations to safely dispose of sacrificial waste and remains.
More than 6,000 biodegradable bags will be distributed among the citizens for sacrificial waste. These bags have a capacity of carrying up to 40 kilograms.
More than 130 locations have been allocated in Nawanshahr, Malikpura, Urban City and Kehal Urban for collecting sacrificial waste from where the animal waste will be transferred to the dumping ground and buried.
In this regard, WASA organized an Ulema Conference and Press Briefing at the District Council Hall. Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Sarmad Saleem Akram, Chairman Board of Directors WASA Sajid Khan Jadoon, Khatib-e-Hazara Maulana Mufti Hameed-ur-Rehman Qureshi, Chief Executive Officer Engineer Rehan Yousuf, President Press Club Sardar Naveed Alam, Former President Sardar Shafiq Ahmed, Assistant Secretary Press Club Dildar Ahmed Satti, Maulana Sarfaraz Ahmed Farooqi, Mufti Jafar Tayyar Maqbool Awan, Chairman of Village and Neighborhood Councils, social figures and WASA staff were present on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Sarmad Saleem Akram, District Khatib Mufti Hameed-ur-Rehman Qureshi, Chairman BOD WASA Sajid Khan Jadoon, Chief Executive Engineer Rehan Yousuf and Spokesperson WASA Umar Khan Swati spoke on the occasion.
WASA spokesperson Omar Swati said in a multimedia briefing that 10 mini dumpers, 3 compactors, 2 tractor trolleys, 3 excavators and 14 dumpers and 1 dozer have been prepared for the Eid al-Adha operation.
The waste will be buried in a pit with a capacity of 6,000 cubic feet in the dumping ground and soil will be poured on top of it upon completion of the operation. WASA’s complaints cell will remain open 24 hours and timely instructions will be issued to the relevant staff on complaints or indications from citizens.
WASA’s staff of 255 people will work during Eid al-Azha. Along with this, every effort will be made to ensure water supply to the citizens from 19 tube wells and water treatment plants.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Sarmad Saleem Akram said that the district administration will remain active at all times to monitor the places allocated for disposing of sacrificial animals during Eid al-Adha. The citizens of Abbottabad should also show their responsibility and take special care of cleanliness. Chairman Board of Directors WASA Sajid Khan Jadoon said that sacrifice should be performed in a place where it can be cleaned. Water is also a great blessing of Allah, do not waste it. Abbottabad may face a severe water crisis in the coming time, it needs to be taken seriously. Khatib-e-Hazara Mufti Hameed-ur-Rehman Qureshi said in his speech that Islam is a complete code of life, which we have limited. According to the teachings of Islam, cleanliness is of great importance. In religion, cleanliness is a part of faith. We need to look into ourselves. The participants in the ceremony also presented their recommendations and paid tribute to WASA for completing the cleaning operation on time last year.
Chief Executive Officer WASA Engineer Rehan Yousuf submitted a written request to the Khatib-e-Hazara to specially exhort the scholars to observe cleanliness along with the virtues of sacrifice during Friday and Eid gatherings.
