MANSEHRA: Mansehra police on Wednesday suspended two police personnel for alleged involvement in an assault incident. The incident had sparked outrage on social media after a video of it went viral.
According to a statement issued by the Mansehra police, while taking notice of the incident, the Mansehra district police officer has suspended both the constables and ordered an inquiry into the citizen assault incident.
It said that after the video of the alleged assault on a youth named Shahryar, a resident of Paras in Balakot, went viral on social media, Mansehra Police Chief Muhammad Azhar Khan took strict notice and took action.
According to the statement, DPO suspended both police constables involved in the incident and ordered them to report to the police line immediately.
The suspended officials include Qadeer and Abdullah Shah. A charge sheet has been issued to both officials, and a formal departmental inquiry has been initiated against them.
He said that the process of accountability in the police department will continue without discrimination, no one is above the law, and strict departmental action will be taken against those responsible after a transparent inquiry.
