GHALANAI: At least two people, including an additional station house officer (SHO), were killed and a police officer was seriously injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a police patrol in the Yakaghund tehsil of Mohmand district on Wednesday evening.
The attack took place at around 7:10 p.m. at the Warsak Left Canal in Machni area where some armed men attacked a Yakaghund police car.
Police said that those who died in the attack include Additional SHO Zait-ur-Rehman of Yakaghund Police Station and Noor Zeb while another police officer suffered injuries in the attack and shifted to the hospital for medical treatment.
After firing at police personnel, the attackers ran away from the scene.
DSP Dil Faraz and SHO Qasim reached the spot in strength and started an investigation into the matter.
