KOLKATA: Another case of age fraud has emerged in Indian cricket, resulting in a two-year ban for Under-19 player Rohit Yadav and former Under-19 World Cup winner Ravi Kumar.
Leg-spinner Rohit Yadav was part of India’s Under-19 squad against Sri Lanka last July, where he took one wicket and scored 94 runs across two matches. He was previously registered as an 18-year-old player.
However, during a pre-season document verification conducted by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), a 27-month discrepancy was discovered in his recorded age. As a consequence, Yadav has also been dropped from the upcoming Under-19 series squad against Australia.
The Cricket Association of Bengal took action against 64 other players following the age verification audit.
In a separate finding, a discrepancy of over 40 months was uncovered regarding the age of Ravi Kumar, who represented India in the 2022 Under-19 World Cup final. His age-group records up to the 2025–26 season are set to be invalidated.
