RAWALPINDI: A 28-year-old woman biker and social media content creator, Komal Jan, died after falling into the Soan River near Soan Bridge, Rawalpindi while reportedly filming a TikTok video, police said.
Rescue teams recovered her body after several hours of search operations and shifted it to a hospital.
According to police, Jan, a resident of Gulistan Colony, was employed by the Election Commission of Pakistan and was passionate about heavy biking and creating social media videos.
Police and Rescue 1122 teams launched a search operation after receiving an emergency call reporting that a woman who had fallen into the river in the area of Defence Phase One.
Jan’s motorcycle, her purse, helmet, and identity card were found at the Soan Bridge which helped to identify her.
The police said that one of the two cell phones used by her was found in a bag on her motorcycle. The police confirmed that she had been filming a video on her cell phone near the river bank and then she lost her balance and fell into the river.
The police have taken preliminary statements from the witnesses and evidence and technical information are being analyzed in the investigation.
The police confirmed that Jan’s family members had not suspected any foul play in the case and regarded it as an accident.
After completion of the post-mortem and other legal formalities, police handed over the body to her family.
