RAWALPINDI: On the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, authorities have introduced a Juvenile Driving Permit facility for teenagers aged between 16 and 18 years, allowing them to legally ride motorcycles under a regulated framework.

Under the new policy, minors within the specified age group can obtain a Juvenile Driving Permit after securing written consent from their parents or legal guardians.

Permit holders will only be allowed to operate motorcycles or scooters, with motorcycle usage restricted to engines of up to 125cc.

According to the Traffic Police spokesperson, applicants must present a Smart National Identity Card or B-Form and successfully pass both a traffic signs test and a practical road test. Successful candidates will be issued their permits on the spot.

Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi, Farhan Aslam, stated that the initiative aims to promote safe driving habits among young riders and enhance awareness of traffic laws.

He further emphasized that wearing a helmet will be mandatory for all holders of Juvenile Driving Permits.

Officials believe the move will help improve road safety by ensuring that young motorcyclists receive proper training and operate vehicles within a legal and monitored system.
