SWABI: Tarbela Dam has reached its maximum water storage level following increased inflows caused by monsoon rains and floodwaters from upper districts, according to dam authorities.
The water level at Tarbela Dam stood at 1,550 feet on Wednesday, reaching the dam’s maximum conservation level and leaving no further storage capacity available.
According to the administration, the dam’s dead level is 1,402 feet, while its full level is 1,550 feet.
Water inflow into the reservoir was recorded at 225,500 cusecs, while outflow stood at 224,700 cusecs, officials said.
All 17 units for producing electricity at the dam are working.
Spillways have also been opened, which has increased the water flow in the Indus River.
The rise in reservoir levels comes amid continued monsoon rainfall and increased water flows from upper areas, which have significantly boosted inflows into the dam.
