PESHAWAR: Another dengue patient has died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), taking the tally of deaths in the province to four. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has confirmed that the deceased was a resident of Lakki Marwat.
According to the latest report of the health department, there are currently 272 active cases in the province, while the laboratory received 18 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, and 7 more patients have been admitted to hospitals.
The report further states that 5978 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported so far during the current season.
A total of 2063 patients have been admitted to various hospitals, while 5702 people have also recovered. Currently, 12 patients are under treatment in various hospitals in the province.
The health department advised the citizens to take precautionary measures to prevent dengue, do not allow water to accumulate in homes, streets and open spaces and ensure measures to prevent mosquitoes.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has not yet won the battle against dengue, as the epidemic round is still not showing any decrease with the daily reporting of new cases.
In the present time, along with the support of the Department of Health, there are 309 active patients who are getting treated for dengue within the province. So far, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the total number of reported cases has been 5,895 every year until now.
Two patients, during the last day, were admitted to various hospitals in the province. Currently, there are fourteen patients in the hospitals of the area who are undergoing treatment. From the start of the year until now, there have been a total of 2,038 hospitalisations due to dengue, and 5,583 people have been cured.
The disease has gained a foothold in Peshawar and the vicinity, despite the ongoing control measures in place and 41 new cases were reported in just a day. Unfortunately, the number of fatalities due to dengue this year has reached three. Moreover, five patients are being treated in Nowshera and Charsadda districts and four in Mardan.
The Health Department has made a public announcement appealing to the people to adhere to the dengue prevention protocols properly and to make sure that there are no places with stagnant water, since mosquitoes breed there and the water attracts the mosquitoes that carry the disease.
