Security forces foiled an attempted suicide vehicle attack by Fitna al-Khawarij near the Gangi Khel checkpoint between Wana and Azam Warsak on Friday, officials said.
According to details, militants from Fitna al-Khawarij attempted to target the Gangi Khel security checkpoint with a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device.
Security personnel responded promptly and thwarted the terrorist plan before it could cause damage. In the ensuing exchange of fire, security forces killed 3 Khawarij, officials confirmed.
No civilians were harmed in the attack. Officials said that citizens present at the checkpoint at the time of the incident remained safe due to the swift action by security forces.
Immediately after the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a clearance operation against the militants.
Authorities stated that operations against terrorism will continue without interruption until terrorism is completely eliminated and lasting peace is established in the region.
