LAHORE: Pakistan ODI team captain Shaheen Shah Afridi has achieved a major milestone by completing 150 wickets in One Day International cricket during the tri-series against England.

Playing at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, Shaheen dismissed England’s in-form opener Tom Banton in the first over to complete his 150th wicket. Banton had scored four consecutive fifties in his last four innings but was caught in the covers off Shaheen’s full-length ball.

Shaheen Afridi completed 150 wickets in his 80th ODI match, becoming the fastest Pakistani fast bowler to reach the landmark. Former fast bowlers Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar had achieved this feat in 91 matches each.

Among all Pakistani bowlers, Shaheen is now the second fastest to 150 wickets. Former off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq leads the list with 78 matches. Globally, Shaheen is now the joint fourth-fastest bowler to take 150 ODI wickets. Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane holds the world record with 73 matches, while Australia’s Mitchell Starc did it in 77 matches.

This milestone has made the entire nation proud and has once again proved why Shaheen is considered one of the best fast bowlers in modern cricket.
