PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan has rejected reports and social media claims suggesting that Tehsil Ghazi is being included in the federal territory, describing the campaign as baseless propaganda stemming from a fake notification.
In a statement, Shafi Jan said spreading fake news and fabricated official notifications had become a practice of certain elements, urging the public not to believe unverified claims circulating about Ghazi’s administrative status.
He said the geographical status of any province or its territory could not be changed through a notification alone and that any such change would require a constitutional amendment.
“Tehsil Ghazi is part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its status cannot be changed through a fake notification,” he said.
Shafi Jan maintained that protecting the public mandate was an constitutional and democratic responsibility and vowed that no attempt against the province’s geographical integrity or the mandate given by the people would be allowed to succeed.
He warned that action would be taken against those responsible for circulating fabricated notifications or spreading false information regarding Ghazi.
Shafi Jan urged citizens to disregard the fake notification and what he described as baseless propaganda, stressing that there had been no change in Ghazi’s status as part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
