PESHAWAR: A senior officer of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) bureaucracy allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Peshawar, police said on Sunday, adding that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The deceased identified as Javed Sanam, a Grade-18 government officer, reportedly sustained a fatal gunshot wound after allegedly shooting himself inside his home.
According to police officials, the officer had been involved in property-related disputes with relatives, though authorities have not yet established whether the matter was linked to the incident.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Cantt Muhammad Junaid Kharl said preliminary findings suggest the case appears to be a suicide. He added that investigators collected evidence from the room where the incident occurred and are examining all available leads.
“The incident appears to be a case of suicide, but investigations are continuing,” the SSP said. “Evidence has been recovered from the room, and the complete facts will become clear after the post-mortem report is received.”
The body was shifted for medico-legal formalities, while police have launched a detailed inquiry into the incident.
