SWAT: District Magistrate Swat, Sohail Ahmed Khan, has imposed an immediate, complete ban on bathing, picnicking, and illegal boating by the public and tourists in the Swat River and its tributaries.
An official notification imposing Section 144 across the district has been issued in this regard. According to the order, this step has been taken in the public interest due to the increasing incidents of drowning in the river, the risk of loss of life, and to protect river water from pollution.
The ban has come into effect immediately and will remain in force for the next 30 days. The notification clarified that strict legal action will be taken under Section 188 PPC and other prevailing laws against those who violate the law.
District Magistrate Swat Saleem Jan Marwat has also imposed a complete ban on aerial firing and fireworks across the district under Section 144. Action under Section 188 will be taken on violation.
District Magistrate Swat imposed the ban to protect public life and property and maintain law and order. According to the order, the trend of aerial firing and fireworks by youth during private functions and other celebrations can pose a threat to public peace as well as human lives and the safety of citizens.
Under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the District Magistrate has imposed a complete ban on aerial firing and fireworks in the entire Swat district. According to the order, the ban will remain in effect for 60 days from September 11, 2026.
The administration has clarified that legal action will be taken under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code against those who violate the order. The Deputy Commissioner has directed the concerned authorities to ensure implementation of the order.
