ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has strongly rejected rumours posted on social media about discontinuing the Rs 10 currency notes, stating that all such reports and deadlines are completely baseless.

Addressing the matter, the State Bank clarified that rumours about the final deadline for the Rs 10 note to be exchanged or banned are all lies and misinformation.

According to SBP, there is a proposal for issuing a new series of currency notes which is being considered by the federal cabinet at the moment, but a final decision hasn’t been taken yet on both the new series as well as discontinuing the current one.

In this regard, the State Bank told the citizens that in case of a final decision on replacing or withdrawing any kind of currency notes, the information will be conveyed to citizens via formal channels and in time.
