PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced a Rs 50 million (Rs5 crore) endowment fund to support women entrepreneurs and women-led businesses across the province.
The announcement was made during a visit by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adviser for Finance Muzammil Aslam to the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Peshawar Division (WCCIPD).
The endowment fund is expected to help women to enhance their economic participation and facilitate women entrepreneurs in establishing and growing their businesses. Additionally, a grant of Rs5 million (Rs50 lakh) has been allocated to enhance the capacity and facility of the Women Chamber.
In addition to this, the female entrepreneurs would also get access to concessional finance and other subsidies. For this purpose, a state-of-the-art Women Incubation Centre would be established in the Women Chamber.
President of Women Chamber Qurrat-ul-Ain, its founding president Sajida Zulfiqar, and Shamama Arbab appreciated these initiatives of the government during the meeting.
Shamama Arbab referred to opportunities that exist for women, especially in food processing and agriculture sector and emphasized on providing them with facilities so that they could establish and grow their businesses in these sectors.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the Women Chamber expressed their commitment to working together to translate policy proposals into practical economic initiatives aimed at expanding opportunities for women entrepreneurs across the province.
