PESHAWAR: Police have arrested a 19-year-old man caught red-handed while allegedly exhuming and desecrating the bodies of young girls from local graves in the Budh Bher Sheikhan area of Peshawar.
SP Rural Fida Hussain revealed these details during a press conference, stating that police received information about the latest incident early in the morning, prompting an immediate response. According to police, the suspect was initially intercepted by the cemetery’s watchman and was subsequently apprehended with the crucial assistance of local residents.
The arrested individual has been identified as Salman, son of Afghan, a resident of Afghanistan who was currently residing in Bara Qadeem. Locals also confirmed his Afghan nationality. Police noted that the suspect is 19 years old and has completed his education up to the 12th grade.
During initial investigations, SP Fida Hussain disclosed the disturbing nature of the crimes, stating that the suspect targeted and exhumed the bodies of young girls from their graves. After digging out the bodies, he would clean them, dress them in new clothes, and commit necrophilia. Police investigations confirm that the suspect had successfully carried out similar acts on four deceased girls before his apprehension and was caught during his fifth attempt at the graveyard.
Law enforcement has gathered details of the areas where the suspect previously operated. Further interrogation is currently underway, and police are thoroughly examining all other aspects of this heinous case to ensure comprehensive legal action.
