Pakistan SCO Summit 2026

NEW DELHI: The future of former India captain Rohit Sharma, along with senior stars Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, is expected to come under discussion at an upcoming meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), where key decisions regarding preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup are also likely to be considered.

According to Indian media reports, a member of the selection committee had informed Rohit Sharma that the selectors had decided not to include him in India’s upcoming squad.

The decision reportedly left Rohit unhappy. However, reports had earlier suggested that the veteran opener had agreed to consider retirement following India’s ODI series against England.

However, the above mentioned scenario seems to have changed for now after Rohit delivered an impressive knock of 138 runs in the last ODI match at Lord’s which made a strong case for him to continue his international career.

It is being reported by Indian press that, unlike Rohit, Kohli and Jadeja are under lesser pressure from their side to retire from the sport or give chance to the youngsters.

The forthcoming BCCI meeting is expected to center around the future of these three seasoned players and preparation and team composition of India for the upcoming 2027 ODI World Cup.

Hence, the above-mentioned BCCI meeting can shed light upon the future of these players in the coming World Cup cycle.
