RAWALPINDI: Young spinner Arafat Minhas create a historic bowling performance in his debut ODI against Australia at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, dismissing five Australian batters.
With this performance, Arafat Minhas became the first bowler in Pakistan’s cricket history to take five wickets on ODI debut. He broke a 42 year old record previously held by Zakir Khan, who had taken four wickets on his debut in 1984.
Due to Minhas’ bowling, Australia were bowled out for 200 in the 45th over after opting to bat first, leaving Pakistan with a target of 201 runs.
Earlier, Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi won the toss and elected to field first, a decision that was justified by the bowlers.
Australia opener Alex Carey scored 19 before being dismissed by Abrar Ahmed. Josh Inglis made 13, while Marnus Labuschagne and Cameron Green were dismissed without scoring by Arafat Minhas.
For Australia, Matthew Short scored 55 and Matt Renshaw made 61. Oliver Peake scored 7, Nathan Ellis 8, Tanveer Sangha was dismissed for nought, and Matthew Kuhnemann made 24.
For Pakistan, Arafat Minhas took five wickets, Abrar Ahmed claimed two, while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Salman Ali Agha took one wicket each.
