PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Friday predicted more rain, strong winds and thunderstorms in various parts of the province.
The new spell of rain is likely to start late Friday night and continue till July 27, this was stated by the PDMA in a release issued here. It added that in this connection, an alert has been issued to all district administrations in view of rains across the province.
Moreover, landslides are likely in the upper districts of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad, while flash floods are likely in local rivers and storm drains in sensitive areas. Strong winds and lightning may damage standing crops and weak structures. Electric poles, signboards and solar panels may be damaged by strong winds, the PDMA said.
it further added that the authority has directed the district administration to take precautionary measures in sensitive areas. The district administration must continuously monitor rivers, rivers and storm drains and keep major highways open for traffic during rains and ensure timely deployment of Rescue 1122 teams in emergency situations, besides tourists should avoid unnecessary travel during rains, it concluded.
