ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert predicting the development of a rain-bearing system over Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and nearby regions. This weather system is expected to bring rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with strong winds and lightning in isolated areas.
The PMD advises the public to exercise caution during this unstable weather period and urges citizens to stay informed with the latest weather updates. The department recommends taking precautionary measures, especially in areas where thunderstorms are expected.
Additionally, the PMD has indicated that a westerly wave is anticipated to approach the northwestern parts of the country on Saturday evening, continuing until the morning of March 16. This wave is likely to bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions, moderate rain, winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall in high mountain areas. Isolated hailstorms are also possible in several regions, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan, until 16 March.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected to affect cities such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and other surrounding areas, with some temporary breaks in the weather from the night of March 14 to the morning of March 16.
Furthermore, the PMD has warned of another western disturbance likely to impact the western parts of the country on the night of March 17.
