The list of the Team of the Tournament and emerging young players, consisting of the best performing players at the end of the eleventh season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has been released.
Babar Azam, the captain of the tournament-winning team Peshawar Zalmi, has been entrusted with the leadership of this team. Babar Azam not only won the title of the best batsman of the tournament by scoring 588 runs but also won his first title as captain.
The Team of the Tournament was selected by a 5-member committee comprising a renowned commentary panel. This squad includes 3 players each from Peshawar Zalmi and Hyderabad Kingsmen, while 2 players each from Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United.
Along with Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Kusal Mendis, Shan Masood and Usman Khan have been included in the selected team. In the all-rounders and bowling department, Shadab Khan, Hassan Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haneen Shah, Sufyan Muqim and Richard Gleeson were able to make it.
Peshawar Zalmi’s Sufyan Muqim was named the best bowler and player of the tournament with 22 wickets. Kusal Mendis also showed excellent wicketkeeping performance with 550 runs, while Hassan Nawaz has been kept in the team as the twelfth player.
The same committee has also announced an emerging team of future stars. This team includes Sameer Mehnas, Shamail Hussain, Moaz Sadaqat, Saad Baig, Farhan Yousuf, Saad Masood, Haneen Shah, Ali Raza, Muhammad Ismail, Obaid Shah and Momin Qamar.
A total of 44 matches of PSL 11 were played in Lahore and Karachi from March 26 to May 3. This season, Babar Azam scored two centuries and also equaled the record for scoring the most runs in a season.
