Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Sunday announced names of its candidates for the elections of the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The elections will be held on July 27 2026.
According to the list released by the party, PPP has finalised candidates for constituencies across Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well as seats reserved for Kashmiri refugees residing in different parts of Pakistan. Among the key nominations, the party awarded tickets to Asfar Shahid from LA-1 Mirpur-I, Qasim Majeed from LA-2 Mirpur-II (Chakswari), Yasser Sultan from LA-3 Mirpur-III, and Chaudhry Sohaib Arshad from LA-4 Khari Sharif.
Former AJK prime minister Chaudhry Yasin was nominated from LA-10 Kotli-III and also from LA-12 Charhoi, while Chaudhry Parvez Ashraf received the ticket for LA-5 Bhimber-I (Barnala). Other notable candidates include Malik Zafar from LA-8 Kotli-I, Javed Iqbal Bhadhanvi from LA-9 Kotli-II, Chaudhry Akhlaq from LA-11 Sehnsa, Sardar Qamar Zaman from LA-16 Bagh-III, and Faisal Mumtaz Rathore from LA-17 Havelian.
The party also nominated Sardar Amjad Yousaf from LA-18 Sudhnoti-Poonch-I, Sardar Saud Sadiq from LA-19 Hajira, Sardar Yaqoob from LA-20 Khai Gala, and Sardar Muhammad Abid Khan from LA-21 Rawalakot City.
For constituencies in Muzaffarabad and Neelum, PPP awarded tickets to Mian Abdul Waheed (LA-26 Lower Neelum), Sardar Javed Ayub (LA-27 Katha), Syed Bazil Naqvi (LA-28 Muzaffarabad), Sardar Mukhtar Ahmed Khan (LA-29 Muzaffarabad City), Mubashir Munir Awan (LA-30 Hattian Dupatta), and Ashfaq Zafar (LA-32 Chikar).
The party also announced candidates for refugee constituencies, including Chaudhry Asif Gujjar from LA-35 Gujranwala, Chaudhry Ahsan Ismail Gujjar from LA-36 Sialkot, Shaheen Kausar Dar from LA-37 Narowal-Shakargarh, Raja Shahid Iqbal Advocate from LA-38 Gujrat-Wazirabad, Chaudhry Fakhar Zaman from LA-39 Jhelum-Rawalpindi-Attock, Aamir Abdul Ghaffar Lone from LA-40 Karachi, Ghulam Abbas Mir from LA-41 Lahore, Javed Butt from LA-43 Rawalpindi, Muhammad Rashid Islam Butt from LA-44 Rawalpindi-Islamabad-Attock, and Abdul Majeed Khan from LA-45 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The announcement marks the formal launch of the PPP’s campaign for the 2026 polls. Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission has already announced that general elections for the AJK Legislative Assembly will be held on July 27 from 8am to 5pm. According to the notification, elections will be conducted in all constituencies of the AJK Legislative Assembly as approved by the Delimitation Commission.
