Initial details regarding the possible Eid-ul-Azha holidays in Pakistan have been revealed, while the final announcement will be made by the government and the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
According to astronomical estimates, the national probability of Eid-ul-Azha in the country is on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. If Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated on May 27, then according to government tradition, the holidays can start from Tuesday, May 26, while the holidays are likely to continue until Friday, May 29.
Thus, after including the official holidays of Saturday and Sunday, employees of government and private institutions can get the opportunity to benefit from 6 consecutive holidays.
On the other hand, SUPARCO has released astronomical calculations related to the moon of Zilhajj, the last Islamic month of the year 2026. According to the agency, the birth of the new moon of Zil-Hajj 1447 AH will be on May 17, 2026, at 1:15 am Pakistan time.
According to SUPARCO, the age of the moon at sunset on the same day will be about 18 hours and 30 minutes, which is considered an important factor for sighting the crescent. It has been further stated that there will be a difference of about 60 minutes between sunset and moonset in coastal areas, due to which there is a clear possibility of seeing the moon if the weather is clear.
According to experts, astronomical estimates help determine the possible date of Eid; however, the final date of Eid-ul-Azha in Pakistan is announced in light of the testimonies of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and Sharia principles.
