NOWSHERA: A police constable was martyred after unidentified armed assailants opened fire on him in the Shedu area of Nowshera while he was returning home after completing his duty.
According to details, Constable Zaheer Alam, a resident of Adamzai in Akora Khattak, was serving as an assistant clerk at Misri Banda Police Station.
He was on his way home after finishing his duty when unidentified armed men targeted him with gunfire near the Shedu Ceramic Factory. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police reached the crime scene under the supervision of DSP Akora Khattak Circle Gulshaid Khan.
Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace and arrest the assailants.
Authorities are investigating the incident, while efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible are underway.
