PESHAWAR: The Establishment Division has called an important meeting following strong reservations from Provincial Management Service (PMS) and Provincial Civil Service (PCS) officers’ associations over changes in the induction criteria for the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS).
The meeting has been fixed for August 4 following the bodies of provincial officers throughout the nation voicing their displeasure at the decision of the federal government to change the service period required for PMS and PCS officers to join PAS from 12 years to 15 years.
Two representatives from the officers’ associations from the provinces of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan have been invited for this meeting to be held in Islamabad as per an official letter issued by the Establishment Division.
The revision of the service period required has been objected to by provincial officers as being arbitrary.
Officials said the meeting has been convened to discuss the concerns raised by provincial service officers and review the implications of the revised induction policy.
The Pakistan Administrative Service is one of the country’s key federal civil service groups, with officers from provincial services inducted through a structured process based on prescribed eligibility criteria.
