PESHAWAR: An intense heatwave will grip Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today as the province records mostly clear skies, blazing sunshine, and temperatures nearing 44°C in southern plains.
The provincial capital will remain hot and dry. The Met Office expects a high of 41°C to 43°C and a low of 30°C to 31°C. The day will start with mostly clear skies and “patchy rain nearby” in early hours, but afternoon conditions will turn completely sunny and dry.
The UV Index is forecast at 11, extreme, while air quality remains ‘Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups’ with AQI at 138 due to PM2.5. Feels-like temperature may touch 48°C in the afternoon.
Southern KP including Paharro is likely to see 39°C to 44°C with a heatwave in the afternoon. Northern and hilly areas like Kehal will be comparatively cooler at 23°C to 34°C with passing clouds. Wind speeds will stay light at 1.5 to 4.3 m/s.
Heat will persist on Sunday with highs up to 47°C. Scattered rain chances are1 expected to develop from Monday onwards.
