PESHAWAR: Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted intense heat in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, May 18, 2026, where the scorching sun during the day will persist.

According to reports from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) of the Meteorological Department, a gradual increase in temperature is being seen across the province.

The mercury has reached 32°C in the middle of the day, while due to the heat wave, today’s maximum temperature is likely to go up to 41°C, which is higher than the average temperature of May.

At present, a very light wind is blowing from the northwest at a speed of two miles per hour. The humidity in the air has been recorded at 40 percent, due to which the intensity of the fog is being felt.

According to the Meteorological Department, after intense heat throughout the day, a partial change in the weather is expected at night. The minimum temperature is expected to drop to 27°C at night, which will make the nights relatively better.

Disaster management authorities have instructed citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during the day (especially between 11 am and 4 pm) and to consume more water to avoid heatstroke. The increase in temperature in northern districts (such as Chitral and Swat) may accelerate the melting of glaciers, so residents living near local rivers have also been urged to remain alert.
