NORTH CAROLINA: A small passenger plane crashed in the US state of North Carolina, killing all seven people on board, including famous NASCAR driver Greg Buffle and his family.
According to local authorities, the accident occurred on Thursday morning near the ‘Statesville Regional Airport’. It is being told that as soon as the Cessna business jet took off, the pilot immediately turned the plane back to the airport due to an emergency. However, while attempting to land, the plane lost control and crashed near the runway and caught fire.
Casualties and passengers: US media have confirmed that no one survived the accident. Former racing champion Greg Buffle, 56, his wife and two young children are among the dead. A large number of personalities associated with the world of racing and fans have expressed deep sorrow and shock over the incident.
Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have reached the scene of the incident. Initial reports are indicating a technical malfunction, however, officials says that the real cause of the accident will be revealed only after examining the plane’s black box and control tower records.
Greg Buffle was one of the most famous car racing drivers in America, who won dozens of important victories in his career. Recently, he also actively participated in relief activities during the storm that hit North Carolina, due to which he was very popular with the public.
