PHC dismisses Anti-corruption reference against former KP MinisterThe Peshawar High Court has dismissed the reference filed by the Anti-Corruption Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Minister Atif Khan.
On the petition filed by Atif Khan, the court issued a written decision and declared the notice issued by the Anti-Corruption null and void. In its decision, the court said that starting an inquiry against Atif Khan after seven years in connection with the allegations of encroachment of government land to establish a private housing society in Mardan is legally dubious and malicious. The court also noted that the matter had already been closed by the NAB. After suspending the proceedings, the court ruled that there was no legal basis in the relevant reference and therefore it should be terminated. After this decision, all the pending cases of the Anti-Corruption against Atif Khan have been postponed.
The notice issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Corruption Department also accused Atif Khan of misappropriating land and using government funds for the development of a private society. The notice asked Atif Khan to submit details of the allegations made against him in his written application. Former provincial tourism minister Atif Khan was also accused of misuse of authority in the project, but the High Court dismissed the reference against him. Also read: High Court’s big decision!
