University of Peshawar administration has introduced large-scale reforms to ensure effective use of resources and reduce expenses in the head of the transport pick and drop facility for officers.
The Vice Chancellor has ordered the inclusion of all official vehicles of the university in the central transport pool, under which the vehicles of deans, departments, and administrative offices have now become part of the university’s common pool.
According to sources, the Vice Chancellor has immediately implemented a new policy on the use of vehicles under the institutional austerity drive. Under the new policy, central management of all official vehicles will come into effect, and specific procedures will now have to be adopted for their use.
This move aims to reduce unnecessary fuel costs and make better use of the university’s resources. As the most important decision, the Vice Chancellor, starting from himself, has approved a monthly deduction of Rs 20,000 from his salary for the expenses of the official vehicle.
The administration says that this step has been taken by the top leadership to set a practical example of frugality so that other officers and employees also adopt a policy of prudent use of resources.
University sources say that the formation of a transport pool will curb the unauthorized use of vehicles, and a significant reduction in fuel and maintenance costs is expected.
The new policy aims to reduce administrative costs without affecting teaching and research activities despite limited financial resources. The administration of the University of Peshawar has termed it an important step towards institutional reforms and said that such steps will be taken in the future that will ensure the financial stability of the university and the transparent use of resources.
