PESHAWAR: Pollution continues to plague several cities of the country including Peshawar as the AQI in the city was recorded at 349.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Lahore, was recorded at 191. The situation was more severe in Bahawalpur, where the AQI reached a hazardous level of 544, while Faisalabad recorded an AQI of 436.
Peshawar also remained heavily polluted, with its AQI recorded at 349. Karachi, however, did not feature among the world’s 10 most polluted cities.
Meanwhile, dense fog engulfed various parts of the country, resulting in poor visibility and leading to the closure of several roads.
Separately, northern areas continued to experience bitterly cold weather.
The Met Office has forecast two spells of rain and snowfall for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Drizzle is expected in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Peshawar, while rain and snowfall have been forecast for Mansehra, Abbottabad, the Galyat region and Murree from today until December 15.
The weather is expected to remain partly cloudy in Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram and Waziristan on December 14 and 15.
According to the forecast, another rain-producing system is likely to enter the country on December 19.
Under its influence, drizzle is expected in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, while rain and snowfall are likely in northern regions.
