ISLAMABAD: Former national team captain Mohammad Rizwan has challenged his summons by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in the Lahore High Court.

In his petition, Rizwan questioned why the NCCIA is investigating an unknown allegation and requested the court to order a stay on the NCCIA proceedings till the final decision on the petition.

The matter of cricketer Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq’s appearance before the NCCIA is ongoing. Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan has challenged the NCCIA’s summons notice in the Lahore High Court.

The petition raises questions over the jurisdiction of the NCCIA and the nature of the investigation and seeks to stop the NCCIA proceedings till the final decision.

Rizwan stated in the petition that the NCCIA did not mention any specific allegation for summoning him. According to the NCCIA notice, an inquiry regarding online betting and gambling is underway. According to Mohammad Rizwan, it was not clarified during the appearance in which online betting or gambling he was involved.

During the appearance, he repeatedly asked for details of the allegations of illegal activities, but none of his questions were answered. Rizwan argued in the petition why the NCCIA is investigating an unknown allegation.

The court should order the NCCIA to stop its action till the final decision of the petition.It is worth noting that Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq were called back home from the England tour, after which investigations were started against both.
