ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected allegations by the Afghan Taliban that Pakistan was involved in fighting in Afghanistan’s Nuristan province, describing the claims as a fabricated narrative based on falsehoods.
In a statement posted on X on Wednesday, the ministry rejected attempts by the Taliban administration’s so-called minister for border affairs and other spokespeople to link the clashes in Nuristan to Pakistan.
The ministry said such statements were aimed at diverting international attention from what it described as internal repression, divisions and instability facing the Taliban government.
It also described the Taliban administration as unrepresentative and alleged that it had been imposed on the Afghan people through force.
The ministry said blaming external actors for internal problems and repeatedly issuing statements against Pakistan reflected what it called frustration and helplessness in dealing with domestic challenges.
It further accused the Taliban leadership of supporting terrorism and alleged that some of its leaders were acting in support of what it termed a Hindutva agenda for personal power and financial interests.
The ministry said such actions were contributing to instability in the region and claimed that the Taliban were moving towards self-destruction.
Pakistan’s statement concluded by saying that truth would ultimately prevail over falsehood.
